Drop Ceiling Calculator

Drop ceiling materials are calculated based on room dimensions and standard grid layouts.

Standard 2x4 ft tile layout:

• Tiles = Room Area / Tile Area (2 x 4 = 8 sq ft each)
• Main tees run every 4 ft across the room length, spaced 4 ft apart
• 4 ft cross tees connect main tees every 4 ft along their length
• 2 ft cross tees split 2x4 openings into 2x2 if using 2x2 tiles
• Wall angle = Room perimeter in feet (sold in 10 ft or 12 ft sections)

Standard 2x2 ft tile layout:

• Tiles = Room Area / 4 sq ft each
• Same grid, but add 2 ft cross tees

Tips:

• Add 10-15% extra tiles for cuts and waste
• Border tiles (edges) will need to be cut to fit
• Hanger wires needed every 4 ft along each main tee
