Swimming Pool Volume Calculator

Calculate swimming pool volume in gallons or liters.
Supports rectangular, circular, and oval pool shapes.

Pool Volume

Swimming pool volume depends on the shape of the pool.

Rectangular pool: Volume = Length × Width × Average Depth

Circular pool: Volume = π × Radius² × Average Depth

Oval pool: Volume = π × (Length/2) × (Width/2) × Average Depth

Unit conversions:

  • Cubic feet × 7.48 = Gallons
  • Cubic meters × 1,000 = Liters
  • 1 gallon = 3.785 liters
  • 1 cubic foot = 0.0283 cubic meters

Typical pool volumes:

  • Small residential (12×24 ft, 5 ft avg depth): ~10,800 gallons
  • Medium residential (16×32 ft, 5.5 ft avg depth): ~21,000 gallons
  • Large residential (20×40 ft, 6 ft avg depth): ~36,000 gallons
  • Olympic pool (50×25 m, 2 m depth): ~660,000 gallons

Practical uses:

  • Chemical dosing (chlorine, pH adjusters)
  • Heating cost estimates
  • Fill time calculation
  • Water bill estimates
