Food safety tips:

  • Never thaw at room temperature — bacteria grow rapidly between 4–60°C (40–140°F)
  • Refrigerator thawing: place on lowest shelf in a container to catch drips
  • Cold water: submerge in sealed bag, change water every 30 minutes
  • Microwave: cook the meat immediately after microwave thawing
  • Once thawed in the fridge, meat is safe for 1–2 additional days before cooking
