Brewing Guide
Perfect tea brewing depends on three factors: water temperature, steeping time, and tea amount.
| Tea Type | Temperature | Steep Time | Tea Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Black | 100°C / 212°F | 3–5 min | 1 tsp (2–3 g) per cup |
| Green | 75–80°C / 170–180°F | 2–3 min | 1 tsp (2–3 g) per cup |
| White | 70–80°C / 160–180°F | 4–5 min | 2 tsp (2–3 g) per cup |
| Oolong | 85–90°C / 185–195°F | 3–5 min | 1 tsp (2–3 g) per cup |
| Herbal | 100°C / 212°F | 5–7 min | 1–2 tsp (2–4 g) per cup |
Key tips:
- Do not use boiling water for green or white tea — it will taste bitter
- Use fresh, filtered water when possible
- Warm your cup or pot first with hot water
- 1 cup = approximately 240 mL / 8 oz
- Most quality teas can be re-steeped 2–3 times
No thermometer? After boiling, let water cool:
- 1 minute ≈ 90°C / 195°F
- 3 minutes ≈ 80°C / 175°F
- 5 minutes ≈ 70°C / 160°F
