Study Schedule
Spaced repetition is a learning technique that schedules reviews at increasing intervals to optimize long-term retention.
How it works:
- Learn new cards each day
- Review cards at expanding intervals: 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days, 60 days…
- Cards you get right move to longer intervals
- Cards you get wrong reset to shorter intervals
Typical interval schedule (simplified):
- After 1st review: 1 day
- After 2nd review: 3 days
- After 3rd review: 7 days
- After 4th review: 14 days
- After 5th review: 30 days
- After 6th review: 60+ days
Daily review load estimate:
- Assuming ~85% retention rate
- Daily reviews ≈ 7–10× new cards per day once you reach steady state
- E.g., 20 new cards/day → expect ~150–200 reviews/day after a few weeks
Time estimates:
- New card: ~30 seconds to learn
- Review card: ~8 seconds average
- 20 new cards + 150 reviews ≈ 30 minutes/day
Tips:
- Start with fewer new cards (5–10/day) and increase gradually
- Consistency is more important than volume
- Missing a day creates a review backlog
