Paint Mix Ratio
Paint color mixing ensures consistent custom colors by maintaining exact ratios.
Ratio = Paint A : Paint B
For a given total, Paint A = Total × (A / (A + B))
Paint B = Total × (B / (A + B))
Tips for mixing paint:
- Always mix more than you think you need — matching a custom color later is very difficult
- Mix in one large container for consistency
- Record your exact ratio for future touch-ups
- Stir thoroughly — at least 5 minutes for full integration
- Test on a small area and let it dry before committing (paint dries darker)
Common mixing ratios:
- Tinting white: 10:1 (white to tint) for a subtle pastel
- Medium tint: 5:1 (white to tint)
- Equal blend: 1:1 for a midpoint between two colors
