Weekly Watering Schedule

Plant Watering Schedule creates a weekly plan based on plant type and pot characteristics.

Watering Frequency = Base Frequency × Pot Size Factor × Season Factor

Watering frequency by plant type:

  • Succulents/Cacti: Every 10–14 days
  • Tropical (pothos, ferns): Every 5–7 days
  • Flowering (orchids, African violets): Every 7–10 days
  • Herbs: Every 3–5 days

Pot size affects frequency:

  • Small (4–6"): Dries faster, water more often
  • Medium (8–10"): Standard frequency
  • Large (12"+): Retains moisture, water less often

Other factors:

  • Terracotta pots dry out 2× faster than plastic/ceramic
  • Winter: Reduce watering by 30–50%
  • Summer: Increase watering by 20–30%
  • Direct sunlight: Increases water needs

Golden rule: Stick your finger 1–2" into the soil. If dry, water. If moist, wait.
