Recommended Rug Size
Rug sizing depends on room dimensions and furniture layout. The general rule is to leave 18–24 inches (45–60 cm) of bare floor between the rug edge and the walls.
Rug Width = Room Width - (2 × Border)
Rug Length = Room Length - (2 × Border)
By room type:
- Living Room (all furniture on rug): Leave 18" border on all sides
- Living Room (front legs only): Rug extends 18–24" under front legs of seating
- Dining Room: Rug extends 24–30" beyond table on all sides (for chair pull-out)
- Bedroom: Rug extends 18–24" beyond bed sides and foot
