  • USA/Canada: 15–20% expected at restaurants; it is a major part of server income
  • UK/Ireland: 10–15% appreciated but not mandatory; check if service charge is included
  • Western Europe: 5–10% or round up; service is often included
  • Japan: No tipping — it can be considered rude
  • China: Not expected; tipping is uncommon in most settings
  • South Korea: Not customary; high-end international hotels may accept tips
  • Australia/New Zealand: Not expected; 10% for exceptional service
  • Middle East (UAE, Saudi): 10–15% if no service charge
  • India: 10% at restaurants; small tips to service staff appreciated
  • Brazil: 10% “servico” often included; check the bill
  • Mexico: 10–15% at restaurants
  • South Africa: 10–15% at restaurants
  • Egypt: 10–15% (baksheesh culture)
