Recommended TV Size
TV Size vs. Viewing Distance depends on screen resolution. Higher resolution lets you sit closer without seeing pixels.
For 4K TVs (most common today):
Recommended TV Size (inches) = Viewing Distance (inches) / 1.2
Optimal Viewing Distance (inches) = TV Size (inches) × 1.2
For 1080p TVs:
Recommended TV Size (inches) = Viewing Distance (inches) / 1.6
For 8K TVs:
Recommended TV Size (inches) = Viewing Distance (inches) / 0.8
When using centimeters, the tool converts to inches internally (1 inch = 2.54 cm), calculates, then converts the result back.
General guidelines:
- 6–8 feet (1.8–2.4 m): 43–55 inches
- 8–10 feet (2.4–3 m): 55–65 inches
- 10–12 feet (3–3.7 m): 65–75 inches
- 12+ feet (3.7+ m): 75–85 inches
