Wallpaper Strip Counter
Calculate how many wallpaper strips and rolls you need based on wall dimensions, roll width, and pattern repeat.
Wallpaper strip calculation accounts for wall width, roll width, and pattern repeat waste.
Strips Needed = Wall Width / Strip Width (rounded up)
Usable Drops per Roll = Roll Length / (Wall Height + Pattern Repeat)
Rolls Needed = Strips Needed / Usable Drops per Roll (rounded up)
Standard roll dimensions:
- US single roll: 27" wide × 27 ft long (≈ 60 sq ft)
- Euro roll: 20.5" wide × 33 ft long (≈ 56 sq ft)
Pattern repeat is the vertical distance between identical design elements. Larger repeats mean more waste:
- No repeat / random match: 0" waste per strip
- Straight match: waste equals one repeat length per strip
- Drop match: waste up to 1.5× repeat length per strip
Always buy 10–15% extra for mistakes, future repairs, and matching.
