Total Yards = Base Yardage for Project × Size Multiplier
Skeins Needed = Total Yards / Yards per Skein
Average yardage by project type:
- Scarf: 200–400 yards
- Hat (adult): 150–250 yards
- Mittens/Gloves: 200–350 yards
- Baby blanket: 800–1,200 yards
- Throw blanket: 1,500–2,500 yards
- Adult sweater: 1,200–2,500 yards
- Socks (pair): 350–500 yards
- Shawl: 400–1,000 yards
Yarn weight and typical skein yardage:
- Lace (0): ~400 yards/50g
- Fingering (1): ~400 yards/100g
- Sport (2): ~250 yards/100g
- DK (3): ~230 yards/100g
- Worsted (4): ~200 yards/100g
- Bulky (5): ~130 yards/100g
- Super Bulky (6): ~90 yards/100g
