Body Frame Size Calculator
Determine your body frame size (small, medium, or large) using wrist circumference and height.
Helps interpret ideal weight ranges.
Body frame size is determined by comparing your wrist circumference to your height. This method was developed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company.
Method: Frame Ratio = Height (cm) / Wrist Circumference (cm)
For women:
- Ratio > 11.0: Small frame
- Ratio 10.1 - 11.0: Medium frame
- Ratio < 10.1: Large frame
For men:
- Ratio > 10.4: Small frame
- Ratio 9.6 - 10.4: Medium frame
- Ratio < 9.6: Large frame
Why it matters: Body frame size affects your ideal weight range. A large-framed person naturally weighs more than a small-framed person of the same height. Many ideal weight charts include adjustments for frame size.
