Estimated IVF Due Date
IVF due date is calculated differently from natural conception because the transfer date is known precisely.
For Day 5 (Blastocyst) Transfer:
Due Date = Transfer Date + 261 days
(This equals 266 days from conception minus 5 days of embryo development)
For Day 3 Transfer:
Due Date = Transfer Date + 263 days
(This equals 266 days from conception minus 3 days of embryo development)
Alternative calculation:
Equivalent LMP = Transfer Date - 14 days (Day 5) or - 12 days (Day 3)
Due Date = Equivalent LMP + 280 days
IVF pregnancy timeline:
- Transfer date is known exactly (unlike natural conception)
- Week count starts from the equivalent LMP, not the transfer date
- At a Day 5 transfer, you are already approximately 2 weeks and 5 days pregnant
- At a Day 3 transfer, you are approximately 2 weeks and 3 days pregnant
Important notes:
- Only about 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date
- Full term is 39–40 weeks
- Your fertility specialist may adjust dates based on ultrasound measurements
