Boyle's Law Calculator
Calculate pressure or volume changes using Boyle's Law (P1×V1 = P2×V2).
Find any missing variable.
Boyle’s Law states that for a fixed amount of gas at constant temperature, pressure and volume are inversely proportional:
P1 × V1 = P2 × V2
To find any missing variable:
P2 = (P1 × V1) / V2V2 = (P1 × V1) / P2P1 = (P2 × V2) / V1V1 = (P2 × V2) / P1
Leave one field empty and the calculator will solve for it.
Common pressure units: atm, kPa, mmHg, psi Common volume units: L, mL, cm³, m³
Example: If a gas at 1 atm occupies 10 L, and is compressed to 5 L:
- P2 = (1 × 10) / 5 = 2 atm
Boyle’s Law applies to ideal gases at constant temperature (isothermal process).
