Plywood Sheets Needed
Plywood Sheet Coverage is based on the standard 4×8 sheet size (32 sq ft or ~2.97 m²).
Sheets Needed = (Total Area / Sheet Area) × (1 + Waste Factor)
Unit conversions:
Imperial: Sheets = (Length ft × Width ft) / 32Metric: Sheets = (Length m × Width m) / 2.97
Waste factor guidelines:
- Simple rectangular areas: 5–10% waste
- Rooms with cutouts or angles: 10–15% waste
- Complex shapes or diagonal installs: 15–20% waste
Common plywood thicknesses:
- 1/4 inch (6 mm): Underlayment, paneling
- 1/2 inch (12 mm): Wall sheathing, shelving
- 3/4 inch (18 mm): Subfloor, heavy-duty shelving, cabinets
