Candle Making Calculator
Calculate how much wax, fragrance oil, and wick size you need for your candle.
Supports soy, paraffin, and beeswax.
Candle Supplies Needed
Candle wax weight depends on container volume and wax type density.
Wax Weight = Container Volume × Wax Density
Wax densities (approximate):
- Soy wax: 0.85 oz per cubic inch (lighter, ~20% heavier than volume in fl oz)
- Paraffin wax: 0.93 oz per cubic inch (denser)
- Beeswax: 0.96 oz per cubic inch (densest)
Fragrance oil is typically added at 6–10% of wax weight:
- Soy wax: 6–9% (absorbs less fragrance)
- Paraffin: 6–10%
- Beeswax: 3–6% (natural scent)
Wick sizing guide (by container diameter):
- < 2 in (5 cm): Small wick
- 2–3 in (5–8 cm): Medium wick
- 3–4 in (8–10 cm): Large wick
- > 4 in (10 cm): Multiple wicks recommended
1 fl oz ≈ 1.8 cubic inches | 1 ml ≈ 0.061 cubic inches
