Room Layout Planner
Check if your furniture fits in a room with proper traffic flow based on room dimensions and furniture count.
Layout Assessment
Room layout planning starts with calculating usable floor space after accounting for traffic paths and furniture footprints.
Usable Area = Room Area - Traffic Paths (typically 30-36 inches wide)
Standard furniture footprints:
- Sofa (3-seat): ~7 × 3 ft (2.1 × 0.9 m)
- Armchair: ~3 × 3 ft (0.9 × 0.9 m)
- Coffee table: ~4 × 2 ft (1.2 × 0.6 m)
- Dining table (6-seat): ~6 × 3.5 ft (1.8 × 1.1 m)
- Queen bed: ~5 × 6.7 ft (1.5 × 2 m)
- Desk: ~5 × 2.5 ft (1.5 × 0.75 m)
- Dresser: ~5 × 1.5 ft (1.5 × 0.45 m)
Traffic flow guidelines:
- Main walkways: 36 inches (91 cm) minimum
- Between furniture: 18-24 inches (45-60 cm) minimum
- Around bed: 24 inches (60 cm) minimum on each side
- Furniture should occupy no more than 60-70% of floor area
