Key Signatures tell you which notes are sharp or flat throughout a piece of music.
Order of sharps: F♯, C♯, G♯, D♯, A♯, E♯, B♯
Order of flats: B♭, E♭, A♭, D♭, G♭, C♭, F♭
Relative minor is 3 semitones below the major key (they share the same key signature):
- C major = A minor (no sharps/flats)
- G major = E minor (1 sharp)
- F major = D minor (1 flat)
Circle of fifths:
- Adding sharps: C → G → D → A → E → B → F♯ → C♯
- Adding flats: C → F → B♭ → E♭ → A♭ → D♭ → G♭ → C♭
