Paper weight is the conversion that makes ordering across countries possible, and the American system is genuinely confusing rather than just unfamiliar. A pound rating is the weight of 500 sheets at a parent size that changes with the paper type, so 65 lb cover and 65 lb text are not the same paper at all. Grams per square metre (GSM) carries no such footnote. The multipliers here are arithmetic rather than lookups: cover stock’s parent sheet is 20 by 26 inches, which works out to 2.704 GSM per pound, and the other two rows derive the same way.

Quilling strip length uses the spiral approximation, roughly π times radius squared divided by paper thickness. Thickness sitting in the denominator is why a slightly heavier strip fills a coil noticeably faster, and why swapping paper mid-project throws every shape off.

Cut a little long. A join made mid-coil always shows.
