Motorcycle Calculators

Free motorcycle calculators for fuel range, lean angle, chain slack, tire size, suspension sag, horsepower, and gear ratios.
Built for riders and mechanics.

Gearing, chain, suspension, tyres and range. 14 calculators for riders who do their own spannering.

Sprocket ratio is the cheapest change most bikes accept and the one most often done backwards. Going up one tooth at the front is roughly equivalent to going down three at the rear, and it lengthens the gearing. Riders wanting quicker acceleration usually want the opposite: down one at the front or up two or three at the rear. The page shows the resulting speed at redline in each gear, which is the number that tells you whether you have just given up your motorway cruising.

Chain slack is a safety item, and the spec is measured with the bike on its wheels rather than on a stand. A chain adjusted tight on a paddock stand goes drum-tight when the suspension compresses through its arc, and that destroys output shaft bearings. The page states the measuring condition alongside the range, because half of the service manuals that give a figure omit it.

Lean angle and cornering pages are physics, not advice. They show what the tyre and geometry allow in ideal conditions, which is not what a public road in the rain allows.

Motorcycle Chain Link Calculator

Find how many chain links to add or remove after changing sprocket sizes. Enter original and new sprocket tooth counts and current chain length.

Motorcycle Tire Size Comparison Calculator

Compare two motorcycle tire sizes for overall diameter, clearance change, and speedometer error. Enter sizes in standard format such as 180/55R17.

Motorcycle Helmet Replacement Schedule Calculator

Calculate when to replace your motorcycle helmet by age, drops, and use frequency. Get safety guidance for DOT, ECE, and Snell-certified helmets.

Motorcycle Tire Balance Weight Calculator

Estimate motorcycle tire balance weight by tire size and rim type. Get typical wheel weight needed in grams and ounces for static and dynamic balancing.

Motorcycle Chain Wear Calculator

Check if your motorcycle chain is worn and needs replacement. Enter measured chain length to calculate stretch percentage and remaining life.

Motorcycle Chain Slack Calculator

Find the right chain slack from swingarm length, rear suspension travel, and bike type. Published ranges for sport, touring, race, and motocross bikes.

Motorcycle Cornering Speed Calculator

Calculate maximum cornering speed from turn radius and road grip. Returns km/h and mph, the lean angle it demands, and a 75% margin for dry, wet, and gravel.

Motorcycle Fuel Range Calculator

Calculate how far your motorcycle can travel on a full tank. Enter tank size, fuel consumption, and reserve level to plan your ride.

Motorcycle Lean Angle Calculator

Calculate your motorcycle lean angle from corner speed and radius. Understand the physics of cornering and your tyre's grip limits.

Motorcycle Riding Calories Burned Calculator

See how many calories you burn riding a motorcycle per hour, based on ride length, riding style, and city or highway traffic. More than most people expect.

Motorcycle Service Interval Calculator

Track your next motorcycle service from odometer reading, last service, and interval. Returns km remaining, percent of interval used, and months at your pace.

Motorcycle Sprocket Ratio Calculator

Calculate the effect of changing front or rear sprockets on your motorcycle speed, RPM, and acceleration. Plan your gearing changes.

Motorcycle Suspension Sag Calculator

Calculate motorcycle front fork and rear shock sag in mm from three points. Returns spring preload adjustment and target sag for sport, touring, and off-road.

Motorcycle Tire Pressure Temperature Calculator

Calculate motorcycle tire pressure change from ambient temperature using Gay-Lussac gas law. Pressure typically rises 4-6 PSI from cold to riding.
