Windshield Wiper Size Calculator

Windshield wiper blades wear out from UV exposure, temperature swings, ozone and plain abrasion against grit on the glass. A blade that streaks, skips, chatters or squeaks is finished, whatever the calendar says. This page does two jobs: it estimates the blade lengths for your vehicle type, and it scores the condition of the ones already on the car.

General replacement guideline:

Replacement Interval = 6 to 12 months (standard rubber blades)

Replacement Interval = 12 to 24 months (silicone or beam blades)

In regions with extreme heat, UV, or heavy rain/snow, lean toward the shorter end of these ranges.

Score each symptom 0 for none, 1 for minor, 2 for severe. The four dropdowns below feed exactly this:

• Streaking: water smeared across the glass after each pass
• Skipping: blade bouncing or chattering across the glass
• Edge cracking: visible splitting of the rubber contact edge
• Frame corrosion: rust or a bend in the arm or blade frame

One caveat worth knowing before you buy: streaking and skipping are often the glass, not the blade. Road film and old wax leave a coating that a perfectly good blade will still smear. Clean the windscreen with a proper glass cleaner or a clay bar first, wipe the blade edge with alcohol, and re-check. It costs nothing and it settles a surprising number of these.

Wiper size note: Driver and passenger blades are almost always different lengths, and pickups are the common exception where they match. The sizes below are typical for the body style, not a fitment guarantee. Check your own vehicle in the owner’s manual or a parts store lookup before buying, because the wrong length either leaves an uncleaned strip in your eyeline or lets the two blades collide.

Rear wiper: if your vehicle has one, do it at the same time. It sits in the same weather and wears at the same rate, and it is the one everybody forgets until it is smearing.
