Archery Score Calculator
Calculate archery score, arrows per end, and average per arrow from round type and zone hits.
Supports WA 18m, WA 25m, 720 round, NFAA field, and 3D rounds.
Archery scoring varies by discipline. Recurve, compound, barebow and traditional all shoot at slightly different target formats and scoring rings, and the maximum an arrow can score is not the same across them. That last point matters more than it sounds: a 5-ring NFAA field face tops out at 5 per arrow, so a score that looks poor against a 10-ring target may be excellent. Pick the round first and everything else follows.
Standard WA (World Archery) 10-ring target scoring:
| Ring | Points | Color |
|---|---|---|
| X (inner 10) | 10 (tiebreaker) | Yellow |
| 10 | 10 | Yellow |
| 9 | 9 | Yellow |
| 8 | 8 | Red |
| 7 | 7 | Red |
| 6 | 6 | Blue |
| 5 | 5 | Blue |
| 4 | 4 | Black |
| 3 | 3 | Black |
| 2 | 2 | White |
| 1 | 1 | White |
| Miss | 0 | none |
Score calculation:
Total Score = Sum of all arrow point values
Average per Arrow = Total Score ÷ Total Arrows
Maximum Possible Score = Arrows × 10
Scoring Percentage = Total Score ÷ Maximum Possible Score × 100
Worked example, WA 18m indoor round (60 arrows): An archer shoots: 10, 10, 9, 9, 8, X per end (×10 ends)
- Per end: 10+10+9+9+8+10 = 56 points
- Total: 56 × 10 = 560 points out of 600 maximum
- Average per arrow: 560 ÷ 60 = 9.33
- Percentage: 560 ÷ 600 = 93.3%
NFAA Field Archery scoring: Field archery uses a 5-zone target at varying distances. A center hit scores 5, with outer zones scoring 4 and 3. A round is 28 targets × 3 arrows = 84 arrows, maximum score 420. To run that here, set the round to NFAA, arrows per end to 3, and ends to 28.
3D rounds: IBO and ASA use different ring values on the same foam animals. IBO scores 11 / 10 / 8 / 5, so 11 is the maximum. ASA adds a 12-ring, so 12 is. Getting this wrong is a 9% error in your percentage, which is why the round selector matters.
Classification levels (WA recurve outdoor, 70m):
| Class | Minimum Score |
|---|---|
| 1st Class | 1,000 / 1,440 |
| 2nd Class | 850 / 1,440 |
| 3rd Class | 675 / 1,440 |
